Pathfinder Hybrid Bulk Energy Storage

Pathfinder plans to construct, own, and operate a 317 MW Hybrid Bulk Energy Storage project at the site of the soon-to-be retired Intermountain Power Project (IPP) and at the terminus of the Southern Transmission System (STS) which connects to Southern California.

This project offers Southern CA utilities the opportunity to reduce costs, reduce GHGs, and improve the efficiency of renewables on its system with minimal risk.

Pathfinder will utilize Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES). Through this technology, electricity drives compressors that store air at high pressure in a storage vessel. When released, compressed air expands, combines with a small amount of natural gas, drives a turbine, and generates electricity.
